Magnificent Art Deco figurine titled “Moor with Roast Poultry”, designed by the famous artist Hugo Meisel (1887-1966) and decorated by Otto Koch for Rosenthal Art Department in Selb Bavaria, in excellent condition.

It depicts a lovely Moor carrying a platter with roasted poultry. Made in biscuit porcelain, the figurine is a rare example of masterpiece created by 3 artists and marked accordingly: design was made by Hugo Meisel, decorated by Otto Koch and polychrome painted by J. Sommerer.
Lit.: E. Niecol, Rosenthal, Vol. 4.

Hugo Meisel (1887 - 1966) was a porcelain "master-sculptor" who worked for Rosenthal from 1936 to 1937. His figures are notable for what is described as a "restrained naturalism". Initially he created the famous “Mohren” for Schwarzburger Werkstätten.
An important figure, he was head of the Staatliches Museum of Heidecksburg from 1950 to 1959.

It is in excellent condition, marked with Rosenthal rare mark of the period, #865, impressed H.Meisel marked, Otto Koch and J. Sommerer signed, slightly damage on the stand barely visible, otherwise NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs , please see the pictures as they are part of description.

Good afternoon. I really don’t understand your disappointment and feedback! In the description was mentioned very clear the dimensions of the cup and saucer.

De soup cup is in perfecte conditie aan gekomen en was uitstekend verpakt. Kom beslist nog eens bij U terug. Mvg, Kees Koerts
