*Li Panlong (1514-1570), courtesy name Yulin and pseudonym Cangming, was a native of Licheng, Shandong (now Jinan). He was an official and writer in the Ming Dynasty and the leader of the "Later Seven Masters".(The Later Seven Scholars refer to seven famous writers who dominated the Chinese literary world between 1520 and 1570, that is, during the Jiajing and Longqing years of the Ming Dynasty. They are comparable to the Early Seven Scholars and the Eight Scholars of the Jiajing Period.)
He had a high opinion of the literature of the Qin and Han dynasties, and had many derogatory views on Tang poetry that were different from his fellow scholars. His "Reply to Feng Tongshu" mentioned: "There is no literature after the Qin and Han dynasties."
