A very RARE and beautiful and interesting book...indeed ONLY copy selling worldwide!!!! "The tempest; or, An account of the nature, properties, dangers, and uses of wind, in various parts of the world". Published under the Direction of the Committee of General Literature and Education, Appointed by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, printed for the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, London, in 1848. First edition. Here we have a book that looks at various types of wind including trade winds, whirlwinds, hurricanes, water spouts, and storms in various parts of the world, together with the physics behind the phenomenon of wind. There are 2 full-page maps, 8 full-page b/w illustrations, and numerous in-text b/w illustrations.
Olive green hardboards with a blind stamped decorative border. Minor marks and wear to the boards. Gilt lettering on the spine which has darkened, and is chipped at the top and torn at the bottom and worn along the front hinge.-see photos. All pages are firm and the book is in very good condition. Inside pages a bit toned but very clean,complete! Uncommon. Scarce.

Tear and significant missing on the inner pages plus unsightly spots p.78. Seem to me not reported and does not justify the "very good condition".

Le livre est un peu usé (moisisses d'humidité) : normal pour ne édition de 1896. le frais d'envoie sont toutefois un peu excessifs.
