Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio or Santi) (Italian, Urbino 1483–1520 Rome) Made by Amand Durand, as It bears his red stamp on the backside (Lugt.2934) . Amand Durand, a well-known and respected engraver, spent most of his life re-creating Rembrandt's etchings and other etchings by the great early masters (Van Leyden, Durer,...) in heliogravure. Amand achieved incredible clarity and accuracy through his own technical skills. Durand's etchings were bought by great collectors throughout Europe, as well as the Louvre Museum in Paris and the French Bibliothèque Nationale.
