Strong and very well preserved albumen print, ca. 1860. Large format. Mounted on card. Embossed artist credit stamp on mount, lower left corner. Printed number, title and image description, in French and English, on reverse.

Carlo Ponti was a photographer, inventor, and king’s optician. The artist worked throughout his life with new technical media to give his pictures a three-dimensional depth and breadth of perspective and more vibrancy.

Dimensions of the print - 36 x 26 cm, total dimensions of the card mount - 44.5 x 31 cm. Some unnoticeable spotting. Minor stain towards left edge on mount, not affecting print and not affecting the overall aesthetics of the work (please see detailed pictures).
