Beautiful coloured BOZO fish marionette from Mali.
This puppet represented the incarnation of the spirit of the water by the Bozo tribe.
Theses Bozo dolls and puppets are used in shows and in telling stories that about life where water plays an important role. The stories have a playful character, on the one hand and on the other hand, the stories have an inspiration and are related to life so they have an educational function. These practices are still done in Mali by the Bozo people. The fish is in good condition, one chip on top as pictured, no restorations.
