Fantastic Edo period long sword in original koshirae. This type of swords are rare because the koshirae is usually changed with some frequency. Most of it is made of wood that suffers from humidity and shocks. Even so this one seems to retain the first koshirae with which it was designed as it consists of only one menuki ana for the handle and the period of both the blade and the koshirae match. The koshirae consists of iron kashira with gold inlay, a nice pair of menukis of shishis playing in shakudo with gold inlay, a very high quality and very rare tsuba representing two catfish made of copper with a beautiful patina to match the rest of the frame. The blade retains a beautiful and vivid hamon full of movement, which contrasts with a very nice steel skin due to the folding of the tamahagane steel with which it was built. Overall a great addition to any collection at an unbeatable price.

The blade is in old japanese polish remaining in good condition, the jihada of the steel is detailed and full of details to appreciate. A masterpiece Worthly a museum and a great addition to any private collection.
