A Rare and Exquisite Polychrome Covered Box with Floral Patterns, Later Le Dynasty, 15-16th Century, Vietnam

Wheel-thrown stoneware with cream slip, incised and underglaze blue painted decoration, clear glaze and overglaze green and red enamel decoration. Six vertical panels round the body, traces of green enamel scattered all over the box.

Provenance:
A French private collection formed in Hong Kong during the 1960s-1980s.

Condition:
Overall in good condition. Some abrasion caused by age. There are two small chips on the rim of the box, each about 0.8 and 0.2 centimeters long. There is another small chip on the outside of the box near the edge, about 0.4cm long. Crack of about 1.1cm in length at the base of the footrim. No restoration.
