Biography
Mizutani Honen(1879-1928)
Born in Nagoya, Japan.
His name is Shokyo. His characters are Heikyo and Hankyo.
Nickname is Chiyokichi.
Studied the Kishi School under Nakashima Yunen, and later under Ishikawa Yurin.
Worshipped Yamamoto Baiitsu and studied his legacy.
From the store
Fifteen sparrows are fluttering down from above.
This is evident from the use of "ears of rice" patterned fabric on a portion of the front cover (gold on white), which indicates that this is a scene from the autumn harvest season.
The colors of the cover are also subdued to match the autumnal season.
One wonders how much painting practice the artist Honen must have had to have had in order to paint so many angles of the sparrows.
The combination of the painter's and the framer's mastery of the artwork has resulted in a lovely sparrow competing for the rice.
