'Les Champonnets' shares the same slope as Grand Cru Ruchottes-Chambertin, but the north-east exposure gives slightly lighter wines than the Grand Cru. Guillon makes therefore the effort in this vineyard and prunes, trims, thins and de-leaves several rounds each season to perfectly ripen the grapes of this old vineyard. The vines are planted on a subsoil of limestone, with lots of clay at the surface. This Premier Cru offers power, silky tannins and a subtle acidity. This all enrobed in the polished fruit Guillon is known for.
