A fine illuminated miniature from an anthology of Persian poetry written C1760. Although the actual Esther in unknown, the damaged and incomplete anthology contained works from As'di Amir Khusrao and Jami. It is written in black nasta'liq (with occasional blue text) and has a striking header written in blue Thuluth within a gold cartouche surrounded by a blue floral border. There is also a charming illustration in gold to the lower left margin containing two ceremonial birds within a floral surround. the whole is encased in a double gold frame.
This is a very unusual and decorative item that would be a great addition to a collection or make a super gift.

Vizualizați traducereaWas very satisfied until I found out that the manuscripts are held to the mount by adhesive tape impossible to remove without damaging the manuscripts. Who the hell puts tape on old manuscripts?!

We do show the mounting in the photographs that are provided for the auction. The tape we use is acid-free mounting tape and placed on the outer margins of the manuscripts on the reverse side.

Arrived very well packaged and padded. Go easy perhaps on the protective tape over the glass. It's the wrong type of tape. I can't remove it to see the painting !! But thanks all the same Rob
