"It was the shortest way to success." -
This is roughly how British photographer Don McCullin explains his decision to go to war with his camera in a conversation with ZEIT reporter Peter Sager:
"I wanted to get on the big stage, to become internationally known as a photographer."
Yet McCullin was already a recognised photojournalist in England thanks to his portraits and social reports that appeared in the Observer. But that was not enough for the man from Finsbury Park, a run-down neighbourhood in North London. Here he had grown up in quite poverty and had gone through the usual ghetto career, was a member of a street gang and often involved in fights. Of all people, the elegant, worldly and intellectually educated Robert Capa, co-founder of the legendary Magnum agency and in the eyes of many: the war correspondent of all war correspondents, became McCullin's role model. Capa had stepped on a mine in Vietnam in 1954 and died. Don McCullin wanted to fill the vacuum that Capa's death left in the photography scene. Again and again, he tells Peter Sager, he stood in front of a mirror and said to himself - "One day you'll be somebody!"

Prachtig boek! Goed verpakt ontvangen. Echter: het te veel gebruikte inpaktape is heel erg agressief: bij het uitpakken kan het zelfs de inhoud van het pakket beschadigen. Hg. KvZ

Răspunsul Vânzătorului

thank you for your positive feedback! the parcel tape protects the book from moisture and humidity and prevents the book from bumping (because it slides back and forth). this is very important. of course, the parcel tape never comes into direct contact with the book, the cover or the publisher's original plastic film. best wishes! ecki heuser, owner of "5Uhr30.com"
