Exceptional, old Zamblé mask of the Gouro people from the Ivory Coast. Many interesting details in the carvings. Which reveal, depending on the perspective of the onlooker, either a human face, or that of the male antelope spirit Zamblé. He is accompanied here to one side of the face by his wife Gu, and to the other by a lizard-like being. The mask was auctioned in the early 1980s, but was part of an older collection.
