This piece is a nice impression that captures the silhouette of a late Jurassic ammonite that is quite faint by itself, but it is helped by the decently preserved fragmacone, which follows the rim of the original shell's shape. There are some minor and arguably unclear marks in front of the shell's entrance that could correspond to soft tissues of the ammonite that were preserved similarly to its shell's silhouette, but I can't make that call for sure as there are no sucker hooks preserved or any distinctive organs that could confirm so.
This piece was purchased within a large collection of European fossils, and it comes from the original lithographic limestone quarries found at Solnhofen, Germany.
