Here is a beautiful and nice quality British classic from Alston Moore featuring a 'raspberry' discoball of sphalerite, highly lustrous, with translucent brown hints, nested perfectly in the middle of an open chalcedony quartz geode.
The back side of the specimen displays scattered crystals of the rare barium carbonate witherite.
Notice also smaller witherite crystals and less polycrystalline sphalerites on the main face of the specimen.
A very nice combination featuring two perfectly formed species, from a classic UK locality!
