Bound in original green cloth covered boards with gilt lettering. Condition good: Boards now protected in a removable plastic cover. Light shelf-wear to extremities. Board has slight bow to it. Pencilled name of Harold Bourne and initials of Admiral J H Day. Foxing to half title page, and some foxing throughout. Insightful and detailed chronicle of the history and achievements of Arctic exploration leading up to the early 20th century. The book focuses on the perseverance and daring of explorers who ventured into the uncharted and perilous Arctic regions in their quest to reach the North Pole.
