This finely crafted pair of cast copper carps by Watanabe Shiho showcases one gold and one silver carp, symbolizing harmony and balance. Carps (koi) hold significant meaning in Japanese culture, representing perseverance, strength, and success, as they are known to swim upstream against currents. They are also associated with good fortune, prosperity, and longevity.

The set includes a black lacquered wooden stand inscribed with “祝 勲四等瑞宝章受章” (Celebration of the Fourth Order of the Sacred Treasure) and the recipient’s name. Both carps are signed by the artist, and the original wooden box features a signature and seal.

The carps show signs of age, including abrasions and patina, while the stand exhibits small scratches. Please refer to the photos for detailed condition.
