Here we have a wonderful very rare and unique Victorian boudoir privacy screen or room divider, circa 1830’s by the artist Louis Silas (French, 19th Century). The painting features roses, peonies and delphiniums in a vases on a stone ledge. Look closely and you’ll find bees and a butterfly. Addition to the insects are very colourful parrots perched amongst the floral displays. The painting is signed 'L. SILAS' lower left on the left most panel. My research has discovered the artist was born in 1800 and lived for a 100 years. He was born in France but moved to England to live the rest of his life. He was a London based painter of highly colourful floral still lifes that stylistically owed much to both the traditions of the Dutch Old Masters and French Post Impressionists.

Each panel in its self is a stunning piece of work but together they provide a most wonderful piece of art. Each panel is fixed to an arched wooden frame using leather and metal studs. The backing is material in a damask design and in one panel has a few tears, but I feel gives it some character. I believe an easy mend to sew back together if required.

The size of each panel is 172cm tall and 43cm wide with a depth of 3.5cm. It makes the screen size approximately 172cm x 172cm when opened up.

This very stylish antique object would be a great addition to any home. Please view photographs as part of the description.

I’m sorry you feel this was it was CLEARLY stated that this oil painting was after the said artist. THERE WAS NO MISTAKING WRITTEN ON THE BACK WAS AFTER KRUSEMAN. The photo was included of this fact. The painting was sold as the description and excepted by the experts on Catawiki.

Envoi très pro, aucun dommage depuis l’Angleterre. Bien prévoir les frais de douanes et transports en plus (ups appelle pour dédouaner normalement). En tout cas, le vendeur est fiable. Encore merci!

Thanks for the impeccable selling process and the flawless delivery of the work in the state that was wished for. A slightly irritating detail is the ufortunate effect caused by brexit delay and fee.
