Doctor Yellow is the nickname of the inspection Shinkansen vehicle used on the Tokaido Shinkansen and Sanyo Shinkansen sections of Japan.
It is so named because the body is yellow.
Although it is a business vehicle, it runs under the same conditions as commercial Shinkansen vehicles that carry passengers, inspecting the distortion of the tracks, the condition of the overhead lines, the status of the signal current, etc., and checking the condition of the Shinkansen track and electrical and signal equipment.
