This beautifully crafted suzuribako (inkstone box) from the 20th century comes with wooden box. Inside, it includes a high-quality inkstone (suzuri) and a 28g pure silver suiteki (water dropper). The bottom of the suiteki is stamped with “純銀” (pure silver). The lid of the suzuribako is decorated with a landscape featuring a pavilion and pine trees. The interior of the lid and the bottom of the box also feature pine tree designs, while the rest of the surfaces are coated with gold-colored paint.
The silver suiteki is intricately engraved with pine branches. In Japanese culture, pine trees symbolize longevity, resilience, and steadfastness, often representing strength and enduring beauty.
There is slight wear and some staining consistent with age and use, including stains on the original wooden box. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of the condition.
