One incredible bottle of 1795 Terrantez Barbeito - legendary bottle. This particular bottle came direct from a well know stock that was in auction about 20 years ago. Before this the bottles had been in original storage and never moved. In the last 20 years it has been stored correctly and is part of a batch bought that have been tasted many times and it is simply incredible.

The chalked writing as per images have slipped on the "A" and the "9" but are all still there and otherwise in very good condition. The original wax seal has the usual chipping on the edges but is still fully covering and paper as it should be. There are no signs of seepage at all and the fill level as per pictures in into neck.

Stored in correct position for Madeira in EuroCave at constant temperate.

Due to value, rarity and excellent condition, I will arrange for the bottle to be hand delivered anywhere in Europe at no additional cost so no additional duties or taxes for mainland EU.

Parker - 99 Pts
This Terrantez is a bona fide rarity since it comes directly from the sole remaining demijohn belonging to Ricardo Barbeito’s grandmother. Pale deep amber colour, very clear, the bouquet is very well defined with nutmeg, roasted walnut, quince jus and marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced and yes, fresh and lively. At 215-years young, it has delicate marmalade, dried apricot and quince flavours on the delineated, elegant finish, with just a touch of volatility on the finish, subtle hints of sour lemon, passion fruit, dried honey and beeswax on the aftertaste. This Terrantez is imbued with indescribable femininity and grace. Taking the glass to accompany a following dinner, it remains as fresh as a daisy. What can I say...magical. Tasted April 2010.
