Krasznahorkai László: Sátántangó (First edition)
Budapest, 1985
Increasingly rare first edition of Krasznahorkai's debut novel. Cover art by Pál Deim.
The novel was adapted into a widely acclaimed seven-hour film of the same title, Sátántangó (1994), directed by Béla Tarr.
Susan Sontag described the film adaptation of Sátántangó as "devastating, enthralling for every minute of its seven hours," adding she would be "glad to see it every year for the rest of [her] life."
László Krasznahorkai was born in Gyula, Hungary, in 1954. He has written five novels and won numerous prizes, including the 2019 National Book Award for Translated Literature, the 2015 Man Booker International Prize, and the 2013 Best Translated Book Award in Fiction for Satantango. In 1993, he won the Best Book of the Year Award in Germany for The Melancholy of Resistance.
Condition: Good. No stains, no creases, no inscriptions. The spine of the dust jacket is sun-faded.

A lot of pages missing in the book pages 37,38,81,82,93 and 94. This was not mentioned in the description of the seller ☹️
Ver traduzidoI'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience. I didn't notice the missing pages - but it's still unacceptable. Naturally, I can send you a good copy as soon as I can, hopefully in a few days. I hope you will remove the negative review too.
