N.º 88884643
An original Popeye page Signed, hand inked and coloured by Bill Mevin.
The art board is annotated by the publisher and was published in Mighty TV Comic 1321 on 9th April 1977
This board has a classic moment showing Sweepea keeping the peace by beating up the bullys at the thug youth club!
Bill Mevin enjoyed a glorious career in comics; he drew comics based on popular cartoon characters, such as 'Bugs Bunny', 'Popeye' and 'Lenny the Lion' character (1958) and 'World Cup Willie' (1966), the mascot of the 1966 FIFA World cup held in England.
Mevin also drew serial adaptations of science fiction TV series like 'Supercar', 'Space Patrol' and Dr. Who. Mevin was the second comic artist to bring 'Dr. Who' to life on paper.
In the 1970s and 1980s Mevin also worked for Polystyle's children's comic Pippin, which featured characters from British pre-school TV shows. Mevin's worked on such features as 'The Pogles', 'Bill and Ben, the Flowerpot Men', 'The Herbs' and 'Morph'.
The title box of Popeye smoking his Pipe and looking at his spinach is a copy pasted on.
