"On July 10, 1890, five Basque and Rioja winegrowers founded, in what is known as the Barrio de la Estación de Haro, the "Vineyard Society of the Rioja Alta".
In this way, an exciting business adventure began in which those founders had as their only dream the production and aging of high quality wines. For this purpose they hired the French winemaker Alfonso Vigier, who took the position of technical director.
In 1941 the company acquired its definitive name: La Rioja Alta, S.A. A year later, the brand that has given the most renown to this house was registered: "Viña Ardanza". Since then, La Rioja Alta has always defended the creative spirit of those entrepreneurs who began the history of this winery.
The wines of La Rioja Alta S.A are made in two wineries that complement each other. One is in the Haro Station neighborhood. It is a century-old winery whose walls keep all the tradition of Rioja winemakers; an ideal place for rest and breeding."
