A beautiful Imari gift box or 'Furoshiki', consisting of a box and a lid, both decorated with various flowers and geometric patterns in red, orange and gold on a blue underglaze. The shape and decoration emulate the customary Japanese way in which important goods and presents used to wrapped in cloth. The object is in excellent condition with one minute chip in the rim (pictured but not visible). Both parts show a potters mark in red in the rim.
