I am offering for auction an impressive 19th century watercolour of a French harbour, possibly Rouen, by listed artist Paul Marny, 1829-1914. Sorry about reflections on the glass. Signed lower right.
The painting measures 49 x 39 cm. The frame is 64 x 54 cm.
Condition of the painting is good. Please view all photos for accurate condition. Ready to hang.
Marny was celebrated for his watercolours, typically depicting bustling, narrow streets of what appear to be Continental towns, with Gothic architecture often towering above the diminutive figures below, as in the present work.
Please note. Due to the fragile nature of old frames and glass, our shippers do not provide insurance for any damage caused during transit. We go to great lengths to ensure each painting is packed and protected to a very high standard but sadly cannot compensate or refund for any damage occurring to frames or glass during transit. Therefore the frame and any glass is a gift to you with zero value and you are bidding on the artwork only.
