This refined Suzuribako was created based on a piece that Professor Shimizu Hian清水 比庵 sent to Yabe Saishu矢部犀洲 for plum blossom carving.
Artist: Shimizu Hian清水 比庵(February 8, 1883 (Meiji 16) - October 24, 1975 (Showa 50)) was a Japanese poet, calligrapher, painter, and politician. His real name was Shimizu Hide. His other pen names were Kaishu, Hishu, and Hian. Due to his modest lifestyle, his connection to Okayama, and his activities as a poet and calligrapher, he was nicknamed "Ima Ryokan" in his later years.
Artists' name were also carved on the lid of this Suzuribako.
