Three Copper Engravings - "Pianta delle Mura della Citta d'Asseria", "Veduta d'Ostrovizza" and "Veduta di Porto di Sebenico" - published in 1774 in the first edition of the rare book "Viaggio in Dalmazia dell'abate Alberto Fortis" ("Journey to Dalmatia by Abbot Alberto Fortis"). Publisher Alvise Milocco, Venezia. In its book, the naturalist and geologist Alberto Fortis recounted his journey to Dalmatia, a region now in Croatia. Engraved by Giacomo Leonardis (Italian, 1723–1797), engraver and etcher in Venezia, pupil of Tiepolo. All three signed in the plate (Jac. Leonardis), lower right, under the image. All three lettered in Italian, as issued, and all three with two creases across from folding, as issued. "Aseria" - depicts the archaeological site of Asseria, near Benkovac, in today's Croatia. Engraved on laid paper with watermark. Good condition, good and clear print impression, slightly soiled towards upper left corner and slightly creased on center left edge. Dimensions of the image - 31.1 x 20.3 cm, dimensions of the plate - 33 x 21.3 cm, total dimensions of the sheet - 37.5 x 24.5 cm. Clean reverse, with an old letter inscription in pencil. "Ostrovizza" - depicts a view of the village of Ostrovizza (Ostrovica, today in Zadar County, Croatia) and its mountainous environment. Engraved on laid paper with watermark. Good condition, good and clear print impression, superficially soiled towards lower left edge. Dimensions of the image - 30.4 x 19.8 cm, dimensions of the plate - 32 x 21.2 cm, total dimensions of the sheet - 36.1 x 24.5 cm. Clean reverse, with an old letter inscription in pencil. "Porto di Sebenico" - depicts a landscape view of the bay of Sebenico (Sibenik, Croatia). Engraved on laid paper with watermark. Good condition, good and clear print impression. Dimensions of the image - 30.6 x 20.2 cm, dimensions of the plate - 32.6 x 21 cm, total dimensions of the sheet - 36.6 x 24.5 cm. Clean reverse, with an old letter inscription in pencil.
