A very RARE and beautiful book on "The Tshi-Speaking Peoples of the Gold Coast of West Africa, their Religion, Manners, Customs, Laws, Language etc" written by A. B. Ellis and published by Chapman in 1887. Anthropological study of the Twi people of the Gold Coast (now Guinea), based on Ellis's observations as a British army officer during and after the Third Anglo-Ashanti War (1873-1874). Book in fair/good condition for age. Externally wear around edges and corners, wear on spine sunned, light stains on boards. Endpapers foxed, inside light stains on margins but mostly clean. Externally library copy with only signs: numbers on spine, sticker on rear board and front pastedown, some stamps at the beginning of the book and one at the end only. One of very few copies selling worlwide! Rarity

Tear and significant missing on the inner pages plus unsightly spots p.78. Seem to me not reported and does not justify the "very good condition".

Le livre est un peu usé (moisisses d'humidité) : normal pour ne édition de 1896. le frais d'envoie sont toutefois un peu excessifs.

The seller packed the item wonderfully, taking extra care so that it wasn't damaged in its long trip the U.S. I'm very appreciative.
