Never framed, never exposed. - Size: 48,5 x 60cm. - Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, became one of the most iconic figures in film and popular culture. Her early life was marked by instability, including time spent in foster homes and an orphanage. She began her career as a model, which led to a film contract with 20th Century Fox in 1946. Monroe's breakthrough came with her roles in "Niagara" (1953), "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" (1953), and "How to Marry a Millionaire" (1953). Her performance in "The Seven Year Itch" (1955), featuring the famous scene of her dress being blown upwards by a subway grate, cemented her status as a sex symbol. Despite her public image, Monroe sought to be taken seriously as an actress, studying at the Actors Studio and earning acclaim for her roles in "Bus Stop" (1956) and "Some Like It Hot" (1959), the latter earning her a Golden Globe. Monroe's beauty, charisma, and on-screen presence made her a muse for numerous artists, including Andy Warhol, who created some of his most famous works based on her image. Warhol's silkscreen paintings, particularly "Marilyn Diptych" (1962), are among the most celebrated examples of Pop Art, highlighting Monroe's status as an enduring cultural icon. Tragically, Monroe's life was cut short when she died of a barbiturate overdose on August 5, 1962, at the age of 36. Her death was widely mourned, and she remains a symbol of Hollywood glamour, talent, and the complexities of fame. Monroe's image continues to influence art, fashion, and popular culture, reflecting her lasting impact as an icon of the 20th century. Marilyn Monroe, cinema and art icon such as Katherine Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Sean Connery, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, among others.
