Jean Denis Malcles Paris, France (1912-2002) - The Original Artwork for the advertising poster for the play 'Cher Antoine ou l'Amour raté’

Here we have an exquisite rare piece of art by the famous French artist Jean-Denis Malcles. This genuine original piece was the design for 'Cher Antoine ou l'Amour raté’ a play by Jean Anouil and used for an advertising poster in 1969. It is done in gouache and watercolour, then signed lower left in black. The artwork features typical 1920-30’s Parisian figures in varied poses. A wonderful piece of artwork which would grace any wall in your home. Jean-Denis Malcles was born in 1912 and was primarily inspired creatively by the 1930s. The period of the 1930s is characterised by the conflict between many political ideologies, including Marxist Socialism, Capitalist Democracy, and the Totalitarianism of both Communism and Fascism. In the Soviet Union, Stalin’s government needed urgent funds to implement the rapid industrialisation demanded by the first Five Year Plan. It initiated a secret proposal to sell off treasures from the State Hermitage Museum in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), including a preliminary list of two hundred and fifty rare paintings by the Old Masters, a number of which found their way to the collection of Andrew Mellon via the New York based art dealing company, Knoedler. The image size is 58cm x 38cm In good condition comes in a gilt frame. Please view the photographs as part of the description.
