Estátua - Kaká - Cameroon (Sem preço de reserva)

Kaka/Kaeka (also known as Yamba) is an ethnic group of about 80,000 people living in the Northwest Region of Cameroon near the eastern border of Nigeria. Among researchers and enthusiasts of tribal art, the Kakas have long been confused due to the similarity in names with another Cameroonian group, the Keaka. The Keaka, who belong to the Ekoi ethnic group, live in the southwestern part of Cameroon and across the border in eastern Nigeria. Kaka statues exhibit stylistic features similar to those of the Mambila and other neighboring peoples' art. The exact purpose of these statues is unclear, but they are believed to be associated with ancestral worship and rituals related to healing. This male statue features typical characteristics of Kaka statues: a triangular-shaped head, short zigzag-shaped legs, and hands placed at waist height in clenched fists. The statue stands unsupported, tilted on sturdy legs. It bears the characteristic thick and rough patina associated with Kaka statues, believed to have formed over time from sacrificial blood, ash, and smoke. Due to the thick patina, facial details are simplified, but prominent large round eyes, a high nose, and short hair can be discerned. The wood material used is heavy. Purchased from a German tribal art gallery. Will be delivered with a certificate of origin.
