Charming black lacquered wooden sword stand 刀掛け (katana’kake), designed for 2 swords, encrusted with beautiful shiny blue/purple mother-of-pearl 螺鈿 (raden).
Presenting in the center a pine tree 松 (matsu) and plum blossom 梅 (ume) placed in a cartouche. Surrounded by geometric patterns and floral motifs, of branches of said trees or scrolling vines.
Above the central panel an arched slat.
Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912).
Considering its age in a very good condition with minimal traces of wear conform age. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
