East India Company import from China - Prato (2) - Porcelana - século 18

This lot contains a pair of porcelain plates created in China under Qianlong emperor somewhere around the first half of 18th century and exported by East India Company for european market. The East India Company arrived in China in 1637 and its imported porcelain was very popular amongst wealthy customers who had some involvement with The Company, such as London merchants, ship captains, governors, and politicians. Designed with curved rim, these plates show abundant decorations in famille rose colors with crimson and were handpainted by skilled artists with detailed bouquets of flowers in center surrounded by scattered blossoms towards the gold outlined lip. Condition of plates is very good suffering no major restorations and presenting just some minor fading of pigment in isolated areas from prolongued use.
