A rare Chinese famille rose, iron red and gilt porcelain double handled 'Four Fish' round tureen. China, Qing dynasty, Yongzheng (1722-35, 雍正) or early Qianlong (1736-1795, 乾隆) period, beginning of the 18th century. Very rare model, particularly with fish decor and both handles preserved (usually these delicate elements are broken and re-glued)! Finely potted with straight walls, supported on the short foot. Exterior decorated with iron red and gilt fish amidst aquatic plants and pink flowers, iron red and gilt flower sprays under handles. Wide band with flower reserves on a pale green ground with dark swirls. Ribbed handles shaped as fish fins, painted in pale green on top. Dimensions: width (with handles) - 14 cm; diameter – 10,2 cm; height – 7,8 cm. Conditions report: excellent condition – tiny chips to edges of handles only, fortunately most on the bottom. No other damages visible. No cracks, no hairlines, no restorations. Minimal wear to the gilding. Minor firing faults. Strong white-light tested. Check pictures for details.
