Throughout history, the village of Meursault has never sought to claim one or more grand cru classifications. This is quite unfortunate because the agronomic potential of its premier crus is in no way inferior to the prestige of the grand crus of the Montrachet or Corton hills. If Meursault were to have a grand cru, it would undoubtedly be Perrières. It is a powerful, intense wine from a rich and imposing terroir. Situated mid-slope like all the best crus in Burgundy, it benefits from the best agronomic conditions.
