Charles and Ray Eames
(United States, 1907-1978)

CHARLES AND RAY EAMES, a "Lounge chair", Herman Miller / Fehlbaum production, 1950/60s

Beautiful matching rosewood wood and black leather.

With some signs of usage expected with its age. It's rosewood shell has a beautiful patterned grain. Wear and slight damages, scratches, marks. Restored and with retouches.

The Herman Miller makers mark can be found under the base.

Likely an early version of Fehlbaum (later Vitra), details such as the foot, armrest attachment and down feathers speak for the early production from 1957-58.

Eames lounge chair, black leather and rosewood
One of (if not the most) iconic designs of the 20th Century, the Eames Lounge chair & Ottoman personifies mid-Century cool.
Designed originally in the 1950's ,The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman originate in Charles and Ray’s investigations into molding plywood and a desire to improve upon a familiar fixture in many living rooms: the lounge chair. Citing the English club chair as inspiration, Charles said he sought to design a modern version of that chair, one that had “the warm receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt.” Almost immediately, the design became an icon of American design. Today, these pieces not only live in museums, but continue to offer comfort and style to interiors everywhere.

Received the lot quite quickly and very grateful for that. The lot were almost as in the description, a small rift on the top that was not mentioned in the description. But i am happy for the lamp.
