United States of America - Official US Army Report St - Lo - Normandy combat - 101st Airborne - Normandy - 1st edition! - many battle maps / photo's - 1946

This rare 1946 published account of D-Day/Normandy ''Saint Lo'' deals with U.S. military operations in Normandy and specifically the Saint Lo area during the infamous battles in Normandy in July 1944. This study rounds out the account of the battle atr division level and below and relates the course of the units along this area in july 1944. This fantastic book is THE bible related to the USA / German operations in Saint Lo and surrounding areas! It contains mindblowingly detailled maps, photo's, and very large amounts of information. I will let the photo's do the talking. Twelfth in the series of studies on particular combat operations, “St-Lo” is the story of a corps in First Army during the bitter July battle that led up to and made possible the great breakthrough from the Normandy beachheads. This was the period of the most intense hedgerow fighting. XIX Corps' part in it has been chosen to illustrate this type of combat. The records of other First Army units in this operation have been covered only in outline. “St-Lo” is one of a series of fourteen studies of World War II operations originally published by the War Department's Historical Division and now returned to print as part of the Army's commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of that momentous clash of arms. These volumes, prepared by professional historians shortly after the events described, provide a concise summary of some of the major campaigns and battles fought by American soldiers. This is truly a great WW2 Normandy Action report, a 1st edition (most on the market are facismiles reprint), which would be a great addition to your WW2 collection!
