Siegmund L’Allemand (1840-1910), (workshop of) - Study for a dragoon
A study for a dragoon by the military Viennese artist Siegmund L’Allemand (1840-1910). He was an artist for the second Schleswig war of 1864 also known as the Prusso-Danish war. He also worked in the France-Prussian war of 1870/1.
After 1883, he was a professor at the Academy in Vienna. In October, 1907, he was a member of the Examination Board (chaired by Christian Griepenkerl) that voted to reject Adolf Hitler's application for admission to the school.
The drawing is 16x13 cms, on bluish laid paper with further sketches on the verso. There are small oil stains in the top right and bottom left edge.
