This is a rare pair of Couronne pillow cases. I have been told by an insider that the exact wording of this crown on the pillow cases is called "Couronne non Ducale". This means that the Couronne for a Duke should have more spheres. It is very difficult to get pairs of pillow cases as almost always one of the pillow cases is damaged due to heavy wear and tear. These particular pillow cases seldom come on the market as royalty ,as a rule, do not sell their linen. There are two rows of open thread work in which there is satin embroidery. As far as I can make out the initials under the crown are P.T. and superbly embroidered in soft relief.
