Hector Guimard was the first architect to receive an invitation to create a design for the entrance of the Metro in Paris. He was the architect who is regarded the most important representative of the Art Nouveau movement in France. Between 1900 and 1912, he designed two different entrances. One with a glass roof and the famous entrance with the text 'Metropolitain' in the well-known Art Nouveau style.
