Splendid Japanese Iro-Uchikake kimono with cranes and pine-bamboo-plum (飛鶴松竹梅文).
The Uchikake originated as a formal kimono worn by women of the samurai families. Today, it is mainly worn at weddings. It is lavishly decorated with embroidery, gold leaf, etc.
The crane symbolizes longevity, while the pine-bamboo-plum represent perseverance and resilience. They are considered very auspicious and celebrated motifs in Japan.
