Pulcina espresso coffee machine designed by Michele De Lucchi (b. 1951) in 2015 for Alessi in collaboration with Illy. The shape of the machine is inspired by the body of a ''pulcina'' (chick in Italian). The Pulcina espresso coffee maker is made of aluminium that serves as an excellent conductor of heat and gives a characteristic flavor to espresso made in Pulcina thanks to the seasoning of the inner walls of the coffee maker with a thin film of coffee. Coffee prepared with Pulcina has a fuller and more rounded flavor than that made with a stainless steel coffee maker. The wonderful stepped effect on the exterior is the result of alternating the thickness of the walls to facilitate heating and cooling. The coffee that comes out is very good.
