and impressed decorations, cream endpapers, all edges gilt.
First published in three parts in 1663-1678. Nash’s Notes first included in an edition of
1793. The version used in this edition, together with an ‘Advertisement’ signed W.N.,
taken from a 2-volume edition first published London: John Murray, 1835. Although
very different in subject-matter (it is a satire on the Puritans), Nash acknowledges
that Butler modelled his poem on Don Quixote. The illustrations for
this edition are portraits by various artists, engraved by Thomas Gimbrede.
