Extremely attractive and collectable item is this beautiful Turkish Gordes handmade cotton and silk rug circa 1900 measuring 175 x 130 cm ( 5.7 x 4.2 ft ). The Mehrab design at the centre with some kind of mystic vase and floral theme in dark blue background surrounded with very detailed geometric motifs in multi borders. Gordes rugs are known for their two dimensional colour palettes whereby the primary colours of blue weakened in favour of shade variations of new colours like light green and pink seen in this rug. The precision in design is where the plain areas reduced with the introduction of multiple borders and additional panels at the top and bottom of the niche. There are also some influence of Western design in the form of Arts and Crafts can be noticed. This rug is a prime example of antique Turkish at its best and buyers will not be disappointed. It is clean and have very minor localised wear otherwise in good condition with soft surface and good short ends fringes and fine sidecords.

Dear Buyer Thank you so much for your feedback and patience towards this shipment! I know at times was a bit difficult by the UPS but we got there eventually! Most importantly you were happy with the rug which in my opinion is a main thing. Hope you enjoy the rug for the long time as it is a prime example of fine antique Ersari Afghan rug. Regards
