Jewel of French mineralogy, the Auvergne blue fluorite is sought after by collectors from all around the world.
Le Beix mine, near the Herment village, was operated from the end of the XIXth century to 1977 and is the most famous blue fluorite locality in the country.
Shortly after the shut down in 1977-1979, a group of miners extracted several pockets of blue fluorite before these blue treasures became totally inaccessible: these finds were source for a number of very nice specimens and made this small fluor mine internationally famous.
Here is a stunning 'true blue' fluorite specimen from Le Beix!
It displays a cladding of eye-catching, magnetic ice blue colour fluorite cubes with excellent clarity and glassy lustre! The crystal at the top of the specimen reaches a 4.1 cm in width.
This delightful blue overgrows a slab of massive purple fluorite, which is a signature from the deposit.
Notice that, as is often the case with mining period specimens from Le Beix, the condition is not pristine and there are cleavages here and there.
Nevertheless, this is a huge chance to get a dramatic 'true blue' fluorite specimen from France, without any reserve price!
