One refined Suzuribako硯箱 (writing box) designed with beautiful phoenix flying over a phoenix tree, vivid and lifelike. The whole surface of this Suzuribako are used nashiji lacquer technique shows a thick gold dust with luxury and beauty. In addition, gold taka maki-e 高蒔絵 (high-relief lacquer design) is also widely used on the lid and interior to creates very ornate patterns with great precision and detail, capturing the beauty of bamboo, flowers and plants in every nuance. The gold lacquer was applied with great skill, creating an effect of depth and three-dimensionality to the floral motif.
The box with one fitted tray housing an inkstone 硯 (suzuri) and a water dropper水滴 (suiteki).
