Ribbon: moire, blue and yellow in colour (military type from 1914 to 1918, peacetime ribbon was black and yellow)
3. Prussian War Merit Medal For Combatants 1870-1871
The German States Prussia War Merit Medal 1870-1871, also known as Kriegsdenkmünze in its original name, is a historic military decoration that was awarded to soldiers of the Kingdom of Prussia who served in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. This medal was established by King Wilhelm I of Prussia to honor the bravery and service of those who fought in this significant conflict. The medal is made of bronze, weighs 15.18 grams, and measures 30mm in diameter. It features a design that typically includes the profile of King Wilhelm I on one side and various scenes symbolizing the war on the other side. This particular item seems to be in Condition-I, which indicates it is in good condition considering its age and historical significance. The Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 was a crucial moment in European history, resulting in the unification of Germany and the emergence of the German Empire under the leadership of Prussia. The conflict also marked the end of French dominance in continental Europe and paved the way for significant political changes in the region. Owning a German States Prussia War Merit Medal from this period is not only a tangible connection to this pivotal moment in history but also a reminder of the sacrifices and valor of the soldiers who fought in this war. It serves as a symbol of honor and recognition for their service to their country
