Carl Axel Magnus Lindman: 50 lithographic prints from “Billeder af Nordens Flora” (1924-1927)


Carl Axel Magnus Lindman (1856-1928) was a Swedish Botanic and Botanical artist, mostly known for his “Bilder ur Nordens Flora” (Pictures from Nordic Flora), published between 1901 and 1905.
After writing this book, Lindman became professor on Botanics at the Swedish National Museum where he stayed till his death in 1928, age 72.
“Bilder Ur Nordens Flora” features 519 of Lindman's meticulous botanical illustrations, capturing the rich diversity of flora found in the Nordic region with exquisite detail and accuracy. The work still stands as a testament to his expertise and dedication to botanical science, offering a comprehensive portrayal of Nordic flora for botanical enthusiasts and scholars alike.

In 1917/1923 "Billeder af Nordens Flora" was published in 3 volumes, featuring Lindmans 519 illustrations and with text from Mentz and Ostenfeld. In 1924/1927 a new 4-volume edition saw the light adding 144 new plates by Lindmann.
Of the 663 chromolithographic plates in this edition, 50 are hereby offered (nrs 269 and 270 are offered twice).

The 50 plates measure 23x16 cm and are in very good condition (see photo’s)
