Beautiful old goldlip shell chest jewelry from the eastern Papua Gulf Area, Papua New Guinea.
It was worn on the chest (please see this very old historical photo of an man from the Region, wearing also two typ."Marupai" Hunting-Charms ) Such Adornments was worn by older warriors of higher rank on festive occasions and special ceremonies. It has an super nice old patina, please note the 2 stoneage drilling.
